COMMENCEMENT OF 2025 EASTER VACATION

Pursuant to the provisions of Order 48 Rule 4(b) of the extant Rules of this Court, the Honourable Chief Judge hereby declares that the Court will proceed on Easter Vacation from Wednesday, 16th April – Friday, 25th April, 2025.

The Court will resume sitting on Monday, 28th April, 2025. During this Vacation period The Honourable Chief Judge has directed me to convey the nomination of my Lords, Hon. Justice S.B. Belgore and Hon. Justice C.O. Odo to serve as the Vacation Judges during the period.

The Honourable Chief Judge wish Your Lordships and the entire Staff of the FCT High Court a very happy, peaceful and highly fulfilled Easter celebration.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR VACATION

Under the provisions of Order 52 Rule 4 of the Rules of this Court, The Honorable Chief Judge Hereby declares that the Court will proceed on Christmas and New Year Vacation from Monday, 23rd December 2024 to Friday, 3rd January 2025.

The Court will resume sitting on Monday, 6th January, 2025. During the Vacation period My Lord, The Honorable Chief Judge has appointed Hon. Justice M. Zubairu to Serve as Vacation Judge within the period.

The Honorable Chief Judge wishes Your Lordships and the entire Staff of the FCT High Court a delighted, peaceful, and highly fulfilled Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.

APPOINTMENT OF HON. JUSTICE M. OSHO-ADEBIYI AS SUPERVISORY JUDGE IN CHARGE OF AMDC

The Hon. Chief Judge has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice M. Osho-Adebiyi as the Supervisory Judge in charge of the Abuja Multi-Court House (AMDC). Your Lordship will supervise and monitor the activities of the Department with a view to ensuring that its core mandates are met.

The Hon. Chief Judge has no doubt that Your Lordship will bring wealth of experience and candor to bear in the discharge of this additional responsibility.

The implementation of remand proceedings for criminal justice

The Honorable Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in exercise of the Power conferred on Him by Section 259 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and section 490 (b) and (g) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 has on the 8th July, 2024 signed into force two (2) legislations as follow:

  1. Practice Direction on the efficient implementation of Remand Proceedings Pursuant to the Administration of Criminal Justice act 2015.
  2. Guideline and Monitoring Framework for the implementation of remand Proceedings under Part 30 of the Administration of Criminal justice Act, 2015.
